Opossum (Didelphis virginiana) Skull Opossum skulls always surprise people. Those teeth belong to an opossum??? And the strange crest has people almost believing when I insist that it's a dragon skull. We were very lucky to find this awesome specimen.
Opossums are one of the most fascinating creatures we
have near Sweetwater. First of all, they are marsupials -- which
means that the mother has a pouch where the babies are kept just after
they are born. Of course, opossums are also famous for playing dead
as a defense, although we've learned from personal experience that these
creatures are just as apt to utilize their wicked teeth if they're
cornered.
